After FY 2011-12, the state will realize zero savings from shutting down redevelopment. But it will permanently destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs and wipe out billions of dollars in local economic activity.

The policy-making process and procedures we employ are designed to ensure that our entire membership is represented because it is imperative that our policies reflect our broad constituency. The League is powerful largely because of the participation of its entire membership.
Ongoing state raids and state borrowing of local revenues continue to jeopardize the services that Californians need most. Borrowing local taxpayer and transportation funds exacerbates budget problems because those borrowed funds have to be repaid with interest-out of taxpayers’ pockets.
