Under administrative direction, plans, manages, oversees and directs the operations and activities of the fire suppression, paramedic and fire prevention service programs for the City and the Delta Fire District; coordinates program activities with other officials or outside agencies; provides responsible and complex staff support to the City Manager and City Council; performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities for a Fire Chief. A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of eight years of experience in all phases of fire suppression and prevention and a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major work in fire science, public or business administration, or a closely related field. A Master’s Degree and possession of an EMT-1 certification is strongly desired. Possession of Class C California driver’s license; possession of a valid California State Fire Marshal Certification as a Chief Officer or completion of an equivalent program from another state or federal institution; possession of a California State Fire Marshal's Firefighter One Certificate.

Salary Range: $8,067 - $9,805

CalPERS Retirement: Your CalPERS Pension formula will be dependent upon your hire date with the City of Rio Vista and/or your status with the CalPERS Retirement System. 2% @ 50 depending on prior job history with CalPERS Retirement System. 2.7% at 57 if hired after 1/1/2013 and not a member of a Public Retirement Agency. The City is currently evaluating all benefit packages.
