“Make it a priority to build productive relationships with your state and federal leaders,” writes Cal Cities CEO Carolyn Coleman. “If you wait until you have an ask or want something from a lawmaker, you’re too late. Build that relationship now before you need them to take a key vote or sponsor a bill your community needs.” 

“The goal is to get more activity downtown, to help the city’s overall economic development,” says City Manager Eric Wier. “We don’t want our downtown to close down at 5 p.m. — this mix of new residential and retail will add a constant synergy to the area.”

Roughly half of Moreno Valley residents leave the area for work each day. Early results from the MoVal Apprenticeship Hub suggest that trends might be reversing. The program connects local employers to a pipeline of trained talent and provides residents with paid, hands-on apprenticeship opportunities.
